For delivery outside the defined areas, please contact Label Wines and we will then provide you with a quote for the delivery costs specific to your order. Label Wines reserves the right to cancel an order at its own discretion should the specifications be such that delivery is not feasible. The customer is also free to cancel an order if the quoted delivery charge is not acceptable. Label Wines will in these cases provide an immediate refund of all payments made towards the order.

For large or particular orders, if we find a more economical method of delivery than the one selected, we will contact you to discuss this. Please refer to our T&Cs for further information.

What do you mean by “Boutique Wines”?

Boutique Wineis a term used for a small winery and vineyard that provides the public with specialized wine products and services. According to Robert Giorgione, an award-winning sommelier and wine specialist, it can be defined as a small shop or a specialty department, where it is not necessarily about the sales, but of the output and overall size of the production within the winery. The term can be applied if the winery takes part in creating less than 10,000 cases per year. The winery should also be involved in a particular niche marketplace, driven by passion, individuality, and creativity in the products they make for the public.

At Label Wines this is accurate for most, if not all, wineries we work with, and we are proud to be able to supply such niche, high-quality boutique wines to our customers around the world. The unique fact that we can effectively distribute such previously locally kept wines is also why we use our slogan “Label Wines – bringing boutique wines to you”.

Beyond the mere boutique definitions above, Label Wines will always make a point of partnering with wineries offering sustainable, organic and innovative principles to their production, thus offering cleaner wines with less additives, manipulations or mass production characteristics.

What do you mean by “Drink the 4%”?

In Australia, the 20% largest wine producers account for 96% of the produced volume. Meaning the smallest 80% of wineries only account for 4% of the wine production. Label Wines is proud to supply you with excellent wines from these smaller wineries, and by drinking from the 4% you areoffering your support to these brilliant small businesses. They will love you for it!

How long will your wines cellar for?

We always release wines to the web shop and wine club when they are ready for consumption. For some wines this means we will do some required cellaring at out purposefully equipped warehousing facilities in Netherlands, while others are released from there right away. Common for all is that they will always allow for continued cellaring for at least another 2 years, and for some this period can be significantly longer. Please refer to the product descriptions of each wine for all cellaring details. And for more info on cellaring wine, please click here

What are sulphites in wine?

Sulphites occur naturally in all wines to some extent, and they are commonly introduced to arrest fermentation at a desired time and may also be added to wine as preservatives to prevent spoilage and oxidation at several stages of the winemaking. Without Sulphites, grape juice would turn to vinegar. In general, sweet (dessert) wines contain more sulphites than dry wines, and white wines contain more than red wines. It is a labelling requirement to list that a wine contain sulphites, and even if the profiles of our winery partners will generally minimize such sulphite content, it will still need to be listed.

Why the Screw Caps?

Screw-cap wines had an outdated reputation as cheap, insignificant and low-quality wines, but this is certainly no longer the case. In fact, there are studies suggesting that these wines may hold up over time better and tend to store and age at a more predictable rate than wines with artificial or natural cork toppings. Australian winemakers pioneered the movement towards the screw-top, which has led even the most exclusive wines produced in the country to be put under screw-cap seals.
