FOOD PAIRING

A Barossa Valley GSM with true elegance, awesome perfume, and incredible flavours awarded 94 points by Wine Orbit. Head Wines was started in 2006 by famed Young Gun Winemaker Alex Head, with a firm focus on single site Rhône varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. And this traditional blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro is certainly at the core of such a mission. All grapes are picked on the cusp of ripeness with some whole bunches retained during the fermentation. With aromas of dark berry, olive tapenade and roasted nuts, this truly is a food accompanying wine style with excellent red fruit intensity balanced with crisp acidity and a long, textured finish. Will develop further with cellaring for another 5-7 years, but certainly a great drink already. And like any great côtes du rhône you should serve this one with game like venison or moose, or any dish centred around lamb, goat or mutton.
