FOOD PAIRING

A brilliant new limited edition red from the exceptional winemakers at Taltarni in Victoria. This 2016 Nebbiolo was made exclusively from single vineyard estate grown fruit with noticeable inspiration taken from it Barolo cousins where this fabulous grape has its most famed expression. The Pyrenees region saw an early warm spring in 2016 allowing for an extended growing season ideal for fully ripening these priced Nebbiolo grapes. The wine shows soft aromas of blackberry, cherry and rose water beautifully complimented by flavours of plum, violets and aniseed, all of which is underpinned with the varietal hints of tar. This rich, medium bodied wine is packed with flavour and complex tannins that slowly emerge and linger into a long finish. Recently awarded 91 Points in the Halliday Wine Companion. And in good Barolo tradition the wine has been allowed to mature before release, but it will easily cellar for another 4 – 6 years. Serve with all things Italian, like a mushroom and truffle pasta, a quatro formaggio pizza or a homemade beef lasagne.

Brand

Taltarni

The first wine from Taltarni Vineyards was released in 1977; immediate success followed with the wine collecting gold at the Royal Melbourne Show – an early acknowledgment of the potential of the vineyard. In 1979, Taltarni’s Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Los Angeles Times International Best Red Wine, ahead of world greats. At 37° latitude, the Pyrenees is in a perfect climatic band for the production of high-quality grapes. The rich soils of red clay, quartz and sandy loam create ideal growing conditions and the cool nights and warm days allow for slow ripening. Taltarni Vineyard and Winery was founded on the principles of individuality, independence and expression, which still guide us today. Combining old-world traditions with innovative new-world techniques, Taltarni produces a diverse range of high-calibre still red and white wines, and méthode-traditionnelle crafted sparklings. Remaining steadfast in our commitment to crafting refined wines of elegance and balance, Taltarni’s portfolio continues to be a reflective expression of the varietal and terroir from which our wines are born.
