FOOD PAIRING

A single vineyard Grenache from the prestigious McLaren Vale, full of intense fruit and berry flavours. A modern, complex and delicious boutique wine. Cragg Cru Wines truly represents the new wave of modern, small-batch wineries in Australia, offering hand crafted wines using alternative varieties and creative techniques to make fantastic wines.

The 2017 McLaren Vale Single Vineyard Grenache is the perfect example of this and will greet you with a clear garnet red colour and purple hues highlighting the edges. Typical ripe Grenache aromas will fill your glass with a sense of raspberries, cranberries and goji berries, while vanilla and toffee notes from the French and American oak aging will balance this rich berry intensity.

The palate has intense flavours of red fruits and dark berries while still remaining subtle and light. The acid is well balanced with the tannin creating a complex after taste and a tasty finish.

Drinks beautifully already but will also cellar well for another 5-7 years.

And with only some 110 Dozen produced, this is a true boutique wine, which will drink beautifully by itself, but also pair perfectly with slow-cooked pork or lamb roasts or pub classics like fried chicken or sausages and mash.

Cragg Cru

Robert Cragg was first involved in the periphery of the wine industry in 2005, when he had the task of pruning and grafting grape vines on his family property, making his first wine from those vines. He moved on to be a cellar hand at Southern Highlands Wines in Moss Vale, was appointed assistant winemaker, but almost immediately moved to the Hunter Valley in '12, where he became familiar with organic winemaking techniques. After two years he was offered a job in McLaren Vale, where he works full-time, but in spare hours and days established his business together with partner Jessica Ward.
