Description
We call this beautiful blend dominated by the red grape Tempranillo and a dash of white Viognier “The Gringo” – Tempranillo bringing the dry wit and brooding stare flirting openly with the sexy Viognier; the life of the party. Rusty on one side, shiny on the flip side. The Tempranillo was grown high on the slopes of the picturesque Ferguson Valley, in the Geographe Region, in Western Australia, with significant maturation in French oak barriques. Then just prior to bottling, the small but important addition of lees stirred, new oak matured Viognier (2%). Awarded 94 points by James Halliday (2020), the wine shows classic aromas of ripe fruit and strawberries, followed by a medium-bodied palate with silky, savoury, and succulent notes. A rich and decadent wine that drinks beautifully now but will also cellar for 10 year. Serve it with mixed tapas, charcuterie boards or roast pork.
