A fresh new vintage of our bestselling Sauvignon Blanc, beautifully crafted into an unexpectedly complex and dry French style.

The beautiful Taltarni vineyard in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria was established some 50 years ago, after being discovered by John Goelet, a direct descendant of the Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux, in a worldwide search for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. And from this exceptional site, Taltarni consistently produces wines of elegance and balance that uniquely express the terroir of this picturesque region, while also proudly implementing environmentally friendly practices that will ensure the long-term quality of their grapes. Winemakers Robert Heywood & Ben Howell have certainly paid homage to these traditions with this wine, using grapes from two great climatic regions, Tasmania and Victoria, then ageing on lees with regular Battonage resulting in an elegant and subtle complexity that matches the refined yet full flavours.

The wine has also seen a small amount of time in oak to further add to the texture and lingering finish. The wine greets you with vibrant tropical and fresh fruit aromas, integrating with the flavours of lime and gooseberry, driving the palate with natural, dry acidity.

There is an unexpected complexity and persistence of fruit, perfectly complemented by the depth of palate.

A great match with fresh seafood and soft cheeses.

Brand

Taltarni

The first wine from Taltarni Vineyards was released in 1977; immediate success followed with the wine collecting gold at the Royal Melbourne Show – an early acknowledgment of the potential of the vineyard. In 1979, Taltarni’s Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Los Angeles Times International Best Red Wine, ahead of world greats. At 37° latitude, the Pyrenees is in a perfect climatic band for the production of high-quality grapes. The rich soils of red clay, quartz and sandy loam create ideal growing conditions and the cool nights and warm days allow for slow ripening. Taltarni Vineyard and Winery was founded on the principles of individuality, independence and expression, which still guide us today. Combining old-world traditions with innovative new-world techniques, Taltarni produces a diverse range of high-calibre still red and white wines, and méthode-traditionnelle crafted sparklings. Remaining steadfast in our commitment to crafting refined wines of elegance and balance, Taltarni’s portfolio continues to be a reflective expression of the varietal and terroir from which our wines are born.
