An amazing value cool-climate traditional method sparkling from one of Australian best producers of bubbles.

The beautiful Taltarni vineyard in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria was established some 50 years ago, after being discovered by John Goelet, a direct descendant of the Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux, in a worldwide search for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. And from this exceptional site, Taltarni consistently produces wines of elegance and balance that uniquely express the terroir of this picturesque region, while also proudly implementing environmentally friendly practices that will ensure the long-term quality of their grapes. And for this wine, they have accentuated the wine with grapes sourced from other cool-climate sites in the Alpine Valleys, Adelaide Hills and Tasmania.

This traditional method sparkling is made from the classic sparkling varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, and is a Pinot dominant blend made up of 60% current vintage and 40% reserve wine that is aged in stainless steel and older French oak. Due to the Pinot Noir dominance of this particular blend, the wine shows a light bronze colour with a beautiful pinkish hue. A bright, fruit- driven wine showing an impressive array of white peach and ripe strawberry flavours with a hint of citrus.

The creamy, textural mid-palate extends into a crisp, refreshing finish.

Drinks beautifully now but thanks to the advanced techniques used it will also cellar well.

Serve as an aperitif, or alongside oysters, shellfish or strawberries.

Brand

Taltarni

The first wine from Taltarni Vineyards was released in 1977; immediate success followed with the wine collecting gold at the Royal Melbourne Show – an early acknowledgment of the potential of the vineyard. In 1979, Taltarni’s Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the Los Angeles Times International Best Red Wine, ahead of world greats. At 37° latitude, the Pyrenees is in a perfect climatic band for the production of high-quality grapes. The rich soils of red clay, quartz and sandy loam create ideal growing conditions and the cool nights and warm days allow for slow ripening. Taltarni Vineyard and Winery was founded on the principles of individuality, independence and expression, which still guide us today. Combining old-world traditions with innovative new-world techniques, Taltarni produces a diverse range of high-calibre still red and white wines, and méthode-traditionnelle crafted sparklings. Remaining steadfast in our commitment to crafting refined wines of elegance and balance, Taltarni’s portfolio continues to be a reflective expression of the varietal and terroir from which our wines are born.
