The white Verdelho grapes are most famous for their use in white port from Portugal, but it has also found a great home used for a classic white table wine in the Hunter Valley region. The grapes for this 2021 vintage were harvested from selected vineyards within the Hunter Valley and the resulting free-run juice was cool-fermented to retain its inherent fragrant qualities. A small amount of residual sugar was left in the wine for added complexity and fruit weight. Soon after fermentation the finished wine was fined, filtered, and bottled. The result is a fresh and lively white wine with an intense sweet tropical nose and lifted spice aromas. Rich tropical fruit and honey flavours fulfil the palate and are complemented by a crisp lemony finish.

Ready to drink young but will cellar surprisingly well for another 5-6 years. An ideal accompaniment to chicken, seafood and spicy Asian, Mexican and Indian dishes.
Excellent drinking now and will continue to develop in complexity with some further bottle age.

Tyrrell's

The Tyrrell’s estate, nestled in the foothills of the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley, is a unique patchwork of vineyards. Thriving in a diverse range of soils, from sandy loams lying on ancient creek beds to heavier red clays over limestone, these vineyards produce some of the most distinctive and refined wines in the world. All of our estate parcels are well established, with many sites bearing vines that are more than 100 years old and still producing fine wines that embody the characteristics and style of Tyrrell’s and the Hunter Valley. Here at Tyrrell’s, we recognise that we have a responsibility to make our operations as sustainable as possible and are committed to doing everything we can to reduce our environmental impact, whether it’s in the vineyard, in the winery or in our broader operations. With this in mind, in April 2009, we established an Environmental Management System (EMS) that was designed to operate in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard for Environmental Management, ISO 14,001. We also established a dedicated EMS team at the winery to monitor and record our energy usage. This allows us to review our environmental performance each year and measure our progress towards achieving our environmental objectives and targets. The four main areas on which we’ve focused are:
  1. Sustainable vineyard management
  2. Reducing energy consumption
  3. Reducing water consumption
  4. Reducing waste
