Description
This brilliant wine has received Gold Medals at both the Barossa and the Royal Adelaide Wine Shows 2020, and truly shows that the awesome team at Dewey Station is all about good humour and good times, while staying very serious about their wines. This GSM blend really is modern Barossa Valley wine making at its best, allowing the purity of the fruit to be the star and using a range of techniques to ensure that the beautiful fruit characters experienced in the vineyard are highlighted and amplified in the finished product. This has included allowing for 26% whole bunch press and 100% French Oak for maturation (8 months), and while the wine is not in any way focused on oak, it does contribute a lovely caramel character to round out the palate. The wine is of medium body yet full flavoured and very approachable with bright red fruit of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Layers of delicate yet overt florals, combine with redskin confection and spice, all wrapped around a delicious caramel core and silky tannins. Serve this 94 point awarded wine (Sam Kim, Wine Orbit) with a lush tomato based pasta sauce, a slow braised ragu or stew, or your favourite grilled red meats.
